Butterfly Pavilion—Emerge

A fresh look to announce an exciting new home for invertebrates.

Brand

To raise funds for their new new home, the Butterfly Pavilion needed a bright, hope-filled campaign look. After the client selected “Emerge” as the campaign title, I worked alongside another art director to develop the campaign look and feel—we each came up with a distinct direction. The client chose aspects of each of our designs, which I then combined to create the final campaign look.

A visual guide for the Emerge campaign brand. I built the brand by combining the client’s selected type treatment of “Emerge” with invertebrate animal silhouettes and color treated ‘powder’ imagery. The existing Butterfly Pavilion color palette and brand typefaces are combined with new elements, resulting in a bright and sophisticated look to use with a sophisticated audience. The overlapping of invertebrate silhouettes with colorful, textured backgrounds provides a foundation for dynamic and intriguing layouts.

Emerge Campaign Booklet

The final Campaign booklet included an aqueous coating on the cover, vellum overlay pages, and a pocket on the inside back cover to hold additional campaign materials. I worked with the client to ensure the design and layout helped tell the story of how important and exciting the new Butterfly Pavilion would be.

The client provided an initial content outline for the booklet. I used this—along with provided renderings and imagery—to create a working mockup with sketches and content notes.
